Great work Sam. Some points-
1) In 15-20K section, you've written Non-Andriod section as "Andriod"
2) What about adding a column for internal memory, especially in sub 20k section as they do matter.
3) In second line from top- spelling of PRICELIST.
4) One more suggestion of picking 1 or 2 better phones as suggestions in each section. You can take members help who own them.
5) A section of info about mobile processors, chipsets, and graphics would help users a lot.!

it packs a 1Ghz processor but whats the use. a 500-600Mhz processor is an overkill for it.

what do you think about this MediaTek MT6577 powering the Micromax A110. if you remember talking about El-cheapo Chipsets ruining performance of Indian Android phones?. 6577 seems to be really good performer, Nenamark 2 score is 25.6 FPS, Linpack - 64 which is quite impressive for a phone at 10K price. It seems to be do better than qualcomms Dual core A5 chipset. I was watching igyaans review on karbonn A21 (powered by 8225) , it got criticized a lot for lag/lack of RAM, i thought may be A5 core is to be blamed here.using benchmark (nenamark) for GPU then backtrack to processor

if you dont mind me asking, you have used Optimus One for two years, so why dont you go extend your bugdet to 20-25K and try for something like HTC One S. Its a pretty huge over upgrade over Optimus One. you may want take smartphone to extreme and flagship phones just push to the boundaries. 1080p Recording/playback, 8 MP Cam, Dual Core Proc, 1 GB RAM etc.

let the game download data but cancel it after a minute. now you have folders ready. just match the folders and copy the data folder into appropriate place but just be sure you are downloading data for the correct resolution. BTW which mobile are you using?

well, L9 performs slightly better than S Advance and XP but the difference not that much marginally..benchmarks are good on the paper while comparing these three phones having same cortex a9 1ghz cpu to be honest..

Nope, I took a look at their feedback, they perform very inconsistently, so I'd suggest not to risk 28k on them, fine for stuff like Pantech Burst though. If you're lucky you'll get the Nexus in prime condition, if you're unlucky, you may get a delayed shipment(over a month) or damaged goods, so yellow light from me, approach with caution.

Nexus or say Nexiz are pretty much refined and developed devices by google itself. They are pure android experience without any lag. Galaxy Nexus is much superior device in terms of software and user experience. (Even better than One X and GS3 in general tasks).

All I understand at this point is that I am comparing two processors, one is 1.2Ghz X 4 Cores and the other is 1Ghz X 2 Cores. Let's say I accept that the latter is faster than the former but then what I want to know is what really is the deciding factor if not Ghz and Cores? Yup good display, its not always the ppi that matters, compare it with other 4.5" HD screen (Moto G or N4's 4.7") and you will see which produces better colors.. Updates won't be delayed that much atleast 4.4 because Grand 1 got 4.2 within months after it was launched with 4.1

I am having a budget of a max of 15k and i am stuck between the Zenfone2 15k version, the Zenfone2 13k version, the Mi 4i (13k) and the Mi 4 (16GB) (also 15k).
My dilemmas are:
Zenfone2 (15k version) vs Mi 4 --- Mi4 is previous generation and has no 4G. Even after some research i got no clear winner between the Atom Z35XX and the Snapdr.801. The camera performance.
Zenfone2 (13k version) vs Zenfone2 (15k version) --- does that fullHD screen on 15k version really matter? In fact, it causes a performance drop on the fullHD version and a lower battery life. But, the 15k one has NFC and Gyroscope.
Zenfone2 (13k) vs Mi 4i (13k) --- camera, chipset performance and brand.
Also, do you think that the upcoming release of OnePlus Two will call for a price drop for OnePlus One? One of my friends has it and I'm in love with the OnePlus One device.

The point of a discrete SD card slot is not all about storage alone. It is about peace of mind, ease of data transfer between phones etc. And a day will come when 64 GB is not enough.
If you use only 1 SIM, a hybrid slot does not matter. Otherwise it is better to go for a discrete slot. Even if you use only one number now, having the ability to add another SIM later will futureproof it.
I have >40 GB free (out of 64 GB) on my OP3 currently. I either delete or transfer all unnecessary stuff onto HDDs. Unless someone is running dual boot on a phone and keeping long 4k videos, 64 GB is enough.

I find 5.8" a bit taller for comfort, 6" is definitely big for me, considering I prefer to use the phone with 1 hand most of the time. But for sure most people are willing to use a big phone, not sure if they are comfortable or not. My parent use their phone with 2 hands most of the time, so its definitely fine for them.
You won't get 5.5" good devices anymore, only one I can think of is Pixel 3, which is way more expensive.
Asus Max Pro M2 (not Max M2) is a great phone overall.
I don't know about Realme 2 but Realme 1 is an excellent phone.

I don't think so. But if you have large hands & want a pretty big display, it's a decent choice. You get S10 for like 10k more which is much more comfortable to use with better cameras & other small features like IP certification, headphone jack, etc. OP7 Pro is just too big & heavy IMO for most.
Standard warranty is 1 year & such high end phones usually don't develop issues in that time.Once warranty is over,rooting or not doesn't even matter.Of course if you really must root the phone just after buying & can't wait a year then it counts.
I finding rooting to be not worth it nowadays. My first 3 phones were rooted for most of the time I used it (except for my S8 & prev Z3C which I rooted towards the last month of use just for fun). The problems with banking related apps is just another headache which needs to be addressed (didn't try Magisk though). I found custom ROMs to be not as stable as stock ones. My main reason for rooting was customization & most custom UIs are good enough in that regard. Oxygen OS of OP is good in that regards, so there won't any need for me to root it if I ever buy an OP phone (which likely won't happen considering the rising size of their phones).

They don't support bootloader unlocking. Can't do anything before that. Only way to "remove" bloat is via adb commands and that would just disable most of them. For remaining bloat, I can't even find the app/package name.

Well if I consider RealMe, I can even consider Redmi Note 8 "more", because of 3 things: Infrared, 18 watt Fast charging as well as a Type C port (also HD+ screen for that matter). Only thing not so great in Redmi Note 8 is battery, which is 4000 mAH compared to 5000 of RealMe 5S.

See, with Xiaomi you are getting a good device for cheap, so there is some "catch". Even cheap Samsung phones have these "recommendations", no system ads for sure. The recommendations are lower compared to Xiaomi apparently, but it exists in M & A series, sadly the budget mobile segment is moving this way. Obviously Oppo & vivo will have more of those in future.
Oh that I agree. Even with the new features that are coming in Android 11 (that would allow us to grant temporary permissions), I can't be sure whether Xiaomi have chosen to completely bypass the Android's security and listening without even granting them permission.
There is this caveat, where if you give your OS permission just once, it will never ask you again for it. Most people think this to be harmless, but in actuality, many lawsuits have ensued because of this.

Poco X2. Not the best battery life for sure, but will last a day easily. It shouldn't have ads like Redmi. Sadly has hybrid slot, so avoid 64GB variant for sure. After hearing Geekyranjit's rant on ads on Redmi Note 9 Pro, I don't think I will recommend Redmis soon. If you don't want Xiaomi, try Realme 6 Pro (it has better battery life than Realme 6 due to more efficient SoC). For something non-Chinese, Samsung M31.
best overall experience phone under 20k is Poco X2 if you are not too paranoid about xiaomi

Very similar, M21 is the new M30S with android 10. M31 has quad-cam, with 64MP main cam. It needs a better SoC. That Exynos is S660 level of performance. Even 1 year old RN7P had S675.
Poco & higher-end Redmis, like K20 & above don't have ads, might have some recommendations, but wouldn't be as big of a task to disable them like it was on RN8P for me. Surely there are guides online, I followed one posted on xda.

That tool is quite known there at xda, do make a note of all the apps you disable though because sometimes some update may cause issues with 1 or 2 disabled apps so you will at least know how to experiment in case of such issue.

It's annoying but most people don't do it, so companies profit. My cousin bought M51 & I sent that video before the first setup, still, she didn't do it. I straight off said to never come to me for any ad-related issue. I mean it's just unchecking some buttons but not having the option to do it after the first setup is bad. Sadly not much options for budget phone buyers as Xiaomi has a worse ad situation but can be rectified after first setup & advanced users can clean it up a lot. OP 8T is good if you value OP's UI, better gaming performance, fast updates & some OP additions like the alert slider. Also has 5G but Indian 5G roll out seems to be 2 years away (maybe the government will speed up auctions).
OP 8T has relatively inferior cam than flagships but I'd say ROG phone 3 & 8T have similar cam performance with 8T having better night shots because of OIS. ROG is a pure gaming phone, that's it. Good battery life as well for sure but bulkier than other flagships.
I really didn't like shelling money for Exynos based Samsung phones tbh. Yeah, I get Camera is a tradeoff there but frankly it's okay I feel. I really like the ROG 3 so far. Plus the processor should be relatively futureproof for a while I guess.
How much can you wait? S21 is coming in january and benchmarks say that it has a better processor i.e. Exynos 2100. Also, it will be 5NM and hence power efficient and will not oveheat.
My main gripe against ROG 3 is its design, just too bulky & flashy. If you don't care about camera, the cam is fine for you on ROG 3. I still feel 8T is a more balanced phone if you care about gaming. If you don't play heavy mobile games, I see no issue with S20 FE (unless you like fast android updates). Oxygen OS is starting to look like One UI. I rate both those UIs as top android UIs, even over stock (because of lack of features), but that's my personal taste.
If you feel confident enough to root & install custom ROMs, you should be able to research about a good phone with good dev support. Check xda forums for each of the good phones under 15k. Generally, Xiaomi has good support in budget devices, esp those with Snapdragon SoCs. Mediatek & Exynos doesn't have good dev support.
I would say MTK SoCs are just cheaper compared to Qualcomm. Companies don't like rooting but are not completely against it like Apple's jailbreaking stance.

In short, forget about exchanging phone on flipkart with same value as shown even if phone is fine with just some inevitable minor scratches etc as the exchange person will surely deduct a few hundred rupees at least from the original exchange value. On amazon process is much smoother with people able to exchange even phones with cracked display with some deduction in exchange value(on flipkart forget about exchanging a phone if there is even a hair thin crack on screen).
Time will tell honestly. Currently I'll pick S865/S870 over the latest Exynos because of better efficiency & thermals for SD SoC.

iQoo 7 seems to be a good all-rounder at 32k. OP 9R would have been a great choice at 35k, but has inferior cam to iQoo 7 & even Mi 11X, I think.

from what i have gathered from various online opinions, exynos in the 4G variant is the expected culprit. exynos is the reason i haven't bought it.
S20 FE 5G is the flagship I'd recommend for most people, even over S21 because S21 series has Exynos CPU. Exynos is hot & less energy efficient as usual but S888 has those issues as well. So S865/S870 is the best flagship chip IMO.

There are overall better options like Redmi Note 10 Pro, Poco X3 Pro, Edge 20 fusion at same price. They are overcompensating for lower powered G95 SoC which can be found in Note 10s and Narzo 30 (maybe).
To each their own, I guess. I feel my S20 FE 5G is pretty big honestly, bought it because India has no good compact phones. Zenfone 8 is missing & S21 is not worth the price partially because of Exynos.
I got Poco X3 pro last week. Initially it felt weird to use it. OP3 feels compact now.
Old 5.5" = New 6.5-6.7", check the phone width as that matters more.
S20 FE 5G is the best flagship phone in India right now IMO, no other phone is worth the extra money over it. You will get more android updates with S21 FE, it is lighter, but still S20 FE 5G is the better phone, even for gamers as Exynos throttles hard & runs hotter.
An iPhone is an easy no for me because it looks bad (notch) & the OS. I had the highest expectation from MacOS among Apple devices, but even that has disappointed me.
The OS is just fundamentally different, I don't see that being changed, nor the price, nor the anti-consumer practice. Samsung phones or Chinese ones are my best bet. Xiaomi 12X is a good compact phone actually. Reviews will tell how good its camera & battery life is. I feel many of MIUI's annoyances are easier to tame for me than iOS.

Blindly ignore buying new Oppo or Vivo phones. They are just expensive. Realme & iQoo are their brands as well having better specs for the price, pick those or xioami over oppo/vivo anyday.
Well Camera, and general usage should be fluid is the thing. Was considering edge, but processor seems to be a downgrade? Plus older phone.
Edge seems to have bit bigger size & screen, 90Hz panel & higher MP cam. Performance should be similar. So see if you need those or say don't want too big phone.
Back camera is Ok for its price I guess. I have only S20FE phone to compare against it, which is actually a 38K phone. Front cam is better, but beautify things teeney-tiny bit to get better picture overall.

Considering I myself don't root phones these days or install ROMs anymore (not worth the time), will you or OP do it? The vivo UI isn't that great, but it is average & enough for most considering Oppo & vivo phones are sold a lot & people are satisfied with them.
I wouldn't mind, I do flash ROMs once the phone gets a bit old and don't receive updates frequently.
I've seen it go for 20-22k and I'd have picked one up for myself if it had 3.5 mm jack and same battery capacity as Poco X3 Pro.

I might have paid that price 6 months back during Diwali sale, but now its overpriced. S20 FE 5G is a better phone if you don't play games & size is not an issue.
Whatever Samsung device is there. I bought M32 4G for my aunt, not that good mainly because of CPU, it lags a bit. Easy to recommend something like Poco M3/M4 Pro 5G or Redmi note 11 or Realme 9i over it. Prefer 128GB internal if there's no expandable SD card slot.

No root, no app installs outside of playstore & no shady app installs from playstore. This is more than enough in my experience to avoid any android malware.

Adding to what @SaiyanGoku said, Software updates have been slow and buggy. I am scared of updating my Oneplus 7T to Android 11 after hearing the horror stories on the oneplus forum. Android 12 update still not released. And there have been cases if Nord series phones exploding.
Well. How the mighty have fallen. Used to be my most favourite brand. Down to earth, good value for money and power user friendly because of warranty coverage even for unlocked bootloaders. Now they are just another flagship company and that's not even counting all the s*** Oppo's doing.

No point in getting X4 now. X5 pro is good hardware wise, but Xiaomi has the worst software update cycle among the big brands, along with Moto. X5 launching with android 12 shows that they aren't improving, like how BBK did (oppo, vivo, OP, realme, iqoo). Its 5000mah battery might suggest a great battery life, but it seems similar to Nothing Phone 1 with 4500mah acc. to GSMArena, likely because of poor optimisation from Xiaomi.

Poco X series(mainly x2 & maybe x3) seem to had issues but never F series or recent X series. Moto comes with near stock android. Vivo is from same group as oppo & realme. Only samsung is different company from a different country(South Korea) but even samsung phones are known to have issues especially in their budget range models where many ppl reported hardware failure during/just after a long update as some online comments suggested samsung used some cheap soldering material which couldn't withstand prolonged heating during such long updates.
Poco F5 should be solid, camera is good for current sale price, but considered inferior to phones like NP1, obviously inferior to Pixel 6a.
Do not buy, get Moto G54 instead or if you really want Samsung, pay extra for M34.
Exynos is bad indeed but at such low performance, not as big of an issue. My aunt has it, she is satisfied.
No one should buy that even at 11-12k, get Redmi 12 5G or Poco M6 pro 5G for closer to 11k price. M34 at 15-16k is a much better deal for a Samsung phone.

Watch reviews of that Poco or Redmi 12 5G & see if any Indian reviewer mentions the call recording situation. IMO it will at least have call recording with announcement.
M34 is ok choice, if you want Samsung. Its major con is SoC. I highly doubt it will be smooth after 3 OS updates, it will get updates till Android 17.

My S20FE with heic extension stores 12MP images mostly under 2MB.
Using online cloud as backup is recommended anyway for mobile phone nowadays because mobile has more chances of being stolen/physically damaged when on the move.

There are reviews online. Can ignore 11R IMO, 512GB is overkill for most easily. 256GB is ideal at that budget. So that leaves 12R & Neo 9 pro. Both have 3 OS update promise, similarly heavy OS but iQoo might have bloatwares vs OP. Camera & its processing should be identical as both are BBK companies. OP 12R has UFS 3.1 vs UFS 4.0 on Neo 9's 256GB variant. Anyways you will use a tempered glass on both, so doubt lack of Gorilla glass will matter a lot on Neo 9. Plastic frame is similarly not a concern at all, heck I want more premium feeling plastic back phones instead of glass back.
I think Redmi phones are sold offline as well. Poco is online only.
