Hello everyone!

i need to buy a touchscreen phone for my father. he's been using a Galaxy S551 since 2 years, which i will be selling off. main criteria for the phone is:

- should have bigger or wider display, as in, for reading text and browsing through.
- will be needed for emails, and not much use of multimedia.

the recently launched Nokia 501 seems to be a good option. is there any other model apart from this worth considering? would not want to browse through the stable of MMX, Lava, Spice, Karbonn, etc. though.

thanks!

another vote for Chat. Not the best QWERTY but with QWERTY + Touchscreen + Android and at 6k, this is the best deal ATM.

Thanks! looks good. will check it in person. but won't the presence of a physical keypad mean a little shorter screen? the phone he is currently using has a sliding keypad and a full touchscreen in the front, but reading text and icons he says is a little difficult for him due to their size.

501 = 3" display. chat = 3" screen + qwerty. also 501 doesn't have 3G support.

i get it. the current phone has 0.2" larger screen. so the best thing would be to check both of these personally before making a decision. any other phone next to these which you could recommend? would make a note of all these while going to the shop.

for bigger touchscreen, you'll have to go for local brands. you can check Karbonn A6, A7 Star, Micromax A89. My recommendations are based on market availability & screen size (4.5" max).
