"Each new release gives us all an opportunity to shine, irrespective of which bricks in the project we are laying, and this is at the heart of our belief — working together to produce an operating system that will empower its users and shape the IT industry, putting free software at the cornerstone of our direction. [...]

Thousands of us get out of bed every day, united behind Ubuntu, ready to make a difference, working together to make our vision happen. Importantly, our ethos of collaboration and freedom extends to the development process as well as the end product." - says Jono Bacon about Ubuntu 8.04.

Sashwat, if you're really interested in reporting on OSS. You can join some weekly newsletter team for your favourite project/distro. Many of them send weekly newsletter to the subscribers. I believe debian and ubuntu have such weekly newsletter for one. That can keep you not only in touch with the latest happenings with that project, but also get you in touch with the devs and get you familiar with OSS community's communications methods like IRC's, mailing lists and such.

Thanks bro.. more info how can I join then

R

thinks, that's good information.

Just join that list for now to understand about mailing lists, if you've never joined one before. The procedure on joining the team should be available in the posts.
Ah here's a quote from one of the mails
