I have an Intel D915GAV motherboard.the Internal memory of my display adapter is shown as 64 MB. I have a 256 mb of RAM but it shown as only 248 mb.I have heard that the motherboard 'shares ' some of the RAM for graphics. If thats the case ( i.e display adapter having 64 mb memory size) then I should have 192 mb as available RAM.

So whats the difference? :?:

no . 8mb of ram is shared when just turn on ur pc.
thats where the GPU ( intel graphics ) resides.
and that is what XP sees

After coming to XP . THe os shares ( or rather the driver ) gives more memory to the graphics consuming the system RAM . thats why u see min. and max. graphics memory . Once u get to XP , the driver allots the given ram as graphics mem .
when u play games , the alloted size increases.
this is different from wat the bios shared mem.

this is DVMT .
