If you had used some good Antivirus softwares or a Top-rated Backup Software, they always gave you the option of creating Rescue Media, which is either a pair of diskettes or a bootable CD, by which you could boot the pc & start the respective programmes in case of a fatal system breakdown.

If you havent done that, i'm sorry but i dont think you can do anything about it except a Reinstall.

PS: Are you sure the problem is due to a virus? There may be several other reasons to that. Make a thorough inspection before taking any action.

If your computer is infected with a boot-sector virus and
your harddisk is Seagate , use
DiskWizard Starter Edition from Seagate.

Ofcourse you must download this software in a clean,
virus-free PC, not from your PC!! Also note down your
harddisk model number. Because the website would
ask for it.

You can also call Seagate's toll-free number at
1-800-180-1104
(Timings : 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM)

Seagate's HD's comes with a 5 year warranty.
In case your harddisk is under the warranty period,
you can contact the Seagate Service Center in your
city , and ask for harddisk replacement.
