My friend needs to buy a multimedia phone.

His primary concern is music followed by a good camera.

He liked SE w910i as it suits his needs perfectly except for the camera.
Then I recommended him K850i. But, then he's (and even me) confused.

What do you guys suggest is a better buy ??
SE w910i @ Rs. 15000 /-
or k850i @ Rs. 16000 /-

Please tell if there are any other good purchases available. We've already thought about N73 ME but, my friend was not very impressed with it's music quality. Next was N82 but, the loudness is not very good in this set.

Thanks in advance !

K850i has one of the best sound quality too, and there has been a long debate on it some days before.
Nyways, it has good quality, but the player is no match for a walkman's

Even SE K810i cud sound really gr8 with custom acostics like Peter's V2 HPM 70 one....wow i love that!!!

BTW, I was going through the reviews of c702
What do you guys say about this phone?

Most of features are pretty much da same.. Though c702 is outshone by k850's 5mp cam..

I dont understand why did you told n82's loudness low. Are you comparing the speaker loudness or headphone loudness ?

You should really consider n82. Its selected as best cameraphone by TIPA. So no doubt its camera quality. Definitly better than k850i. And 82 also had gps , auto screen rotation , great s60 , a great browser ,3.5 mm jack , ngage game , vga video(its really nice) .

I know n82 may be a bit more than budget , but you should really consider n82 once again.

There's a good comparison of n82 vs k850i given in mobile-review.com . Please check it out.

pls guys, dont start n82 vs k850i debate again ...

u cant compare a smart phone to a dumb phone ...

and between k850i & w910i .. k850i anyday ..

yup ..sound through speakers in n82 is way lower than that of say, n73 or 6233 ..its about 60% of total speaker volume of n73 .. through headset its as loud as n73 when used with creative ep 630 ..

by the way, why people want to use their cell phone as dedicated hi-fi systems, especially with those tiny speakers..

Well, I myself own a N82 purchased a month back. And I can tell you that the sound through the speakers is quite low as comapred to other phones. I never listen to songs via headphone so I'll keep quite on this matter.

Anyways, K850i have a lot of similarities with C902. Which one is better of the two?
And is c902 launched? How much is it priced? And what about its sound quality?

But i think its n82's only minus point.

lets say as its n82's only major minus point ..

the other ones will be ,
1. lack of video assist light
2. lack of optical zoom
3. lack of fm transmitter as in n78
4. lack of dvbh as in n96
5. lack of naviwheel as in n78 .. which i think was there in prototype ..but they removed in final version ..

CPU

N78 : FreeScale Semiconductor 32-bit RISC CPU based on ARM-11 series, 369 MHz

N82's cpu is based on High Performance series of the Texas Instruments OMAP.

OMAP2420 - 330 MHz ARM11 + 220 MHz C55x DSP + PowerVR MBX 2D/3D Graphics Accelerator + IVA

N82 Cpu has a better performance.

Also N82 has 90 Mb free ram , which is double than the n78 free ram of 44 Mb.

Jul 9, 2008 at 12:25 AM
^^free ram is firmware dependant. both have 128 mb ram. The next firmare release for the N78 will provide better memory utilization.

And both have significantly the same ARM processor with a few minor tweaks. Its not a computer where the processor will affect the performance a great deal.

^^free ram is firmware dependant. both have 128 mb ram. The next firmare release for the N78 will provide better memory utilization.
^^ Dude N82 has 128 Mb SDRAM with 90 Mb on fresh boot , while N78 has 96 MB SDRAM memory with 44 Mb free.

Please get your facts straight ;)

N82 & N78 both already have excellent memory utilization techniques. Even if new firmware comes for N78 at the most it can increase a few mb free ram,
And remember N82 also will get an updated firmware , so the same rules apply to it too.

And both have significantly the same ARM processor with a few minor tweaks. Its not a computer where the processor will affect the performance a great deal.
I am talking about the whole package.
While the N78 is a single CPU , the N82 has a Dual CPU with extra processing for Digital signal processor (DSP). Its performance is significantly better.

Plus N82 also has a Graphics Accelerator which increases multimedia and gaming performance.

Ps. And finally N82 is a top end product while the N78 is aimed at middle class market. So its quite logical that we can deduce that N82 has a better cpu without reading all this stuff ;)

Aah sorry, i thought that the n78 had 128 mb ram.pathetic.

From when did N82 start having a dual core CPU?? ROFLMAO
Both the proccys are the same, the n78 with more clock speed. Its more like the motherboards we get here, branded by some company and added with a few features, but the same intel chipset.

And that logic does not apply, sorry. The N78 is newer and is launched at a price higher than the N82, so it deservingly has the same proccy.

yea, n82 excels in the graphics department, not that it makes toomuch of a difference, coz there are harldy any games available that make use of the accelerator.

^^ The logic applies nicely. The only reason N78 is launched at a price higher than the N82 is because its a "newer product" which is true for many consumer items and double true for items imported to India ;)

I personally am never too satisfied with Nokia phones. Maybe, the "looks" are the reason behind it.

And, I don't find it sensible to go for K850i now, since c902 has already been launched. It's an upgrade to k850i and surely will be better than it. Only concern is the small screen size. Still, I'll compromise on it provided that the battery life and sound quality is at least decent.

C902 is not an upgrade to K850i. K850i was SE's imaging device whereas C902 is a fashion device. The 5mp camera is just for the sake of it. It's true purpose is not to take great pictures but to just look good in hand with it's slim design and all. Both K850i, N82 and even the 6220 Classic take better photos than C902. The sensor in the C902 is designed more to fit in a small phone than to take great pictures. Check out Mobile-Review's review of C902 if you don't believe me.

@ utsav: Did you read the above? Think over it. Just one foolish statement from you has made me a culprit. And I feel so guilty ... in spite of the fact that I have not done anything wrong.

Is it necessary that 1 phone can satisfy everyone ???
N82 is a gr8 phone ... no doubt.

So, when I got an opportunity to sell off my cell, I thought to utilize it.

Nevertheless, from your posts I feel that I have done "something horribly wrong" in the eyes of you all.
