Hi guys, My elder sister wants to buy a new mobile phone under 6,000 bucks.

1. Budget?: 6K(Cannot raise even a 100 rupees, because I'm gifting it to her. I'm a budget-friendly guy. :D )
2. Display type and size?: 3.5" or better
3. Form Factor? bar, slider, flip?: Bar
4. Preferred choice of brand?: Any brand.
5. Preferred input method (QWERTY, touchscreen, numpad, touch-n-type).: Touch
6. What camera option you want?: She doesn't take too much photos, but will be used on family functions.
7. Preferred operating system? (Android, Symbian, iOS, Windows Phone etc): Any OS which comes under the budget mentioned above.
8. Preferred connectivity options (3G, Wifi etc)Please specify clearly: 3G
9. Preferred applications (Flash, Swype, GPS, etc): Skype (for this we might require a secondary/front camera right isn't? for video chatting? )
10. Primary use of handset (multimedia, camera, mails, internet, gaming etc)?: She mainly uses this phone for making phone calls and SMSes.
11. Any specific mobile phones in consideration?: Gionee P2(I'm very very happy with its specification for that price. :D )
12. Any other info that you want to share: Want a phone good battery. Want a good loudspeaker!

To be safe better to go for better brands and Samsung fits your bill for all apps as it runs android but if you want better battery backup then Nokia Asha models are best. Choose what suits you best buddy.OK.

Let OP decide. For Android go Samsung way and for battery backup go Nokia way. Its his choice anyways.

Gionee P2 user here. This is a very good phone, excellent build quality and looks good too, call voice clarity is excellent, 1700mah battery will last one to one and a half day with normal use, the latest update increased the phone responsiveness marginally. The camera is not upto the mark though. You can buy it for around 5.3K using some coupon in ebay.in. I bought mine for 5.4K. The package contains two screen protectors and a silicon back cover. The ear phone is average, you will need to buy a better one for music listening.

But, what I want to know is whether it will last for 3 years or not?

you have to first check for service centres in your city.

it is also important that number of service centers does not matter. it is the quality of the service that matters. I dont know about Ginoee service experiences. may be, some one who has some experience with it can help you

No. No. I don't really care about branding and all those cr@p. :D I'll definitely try new products if I receive good reviews. :)
And, for your recommendation, I'll surely learn about that device. :)

Yes, dude. Their website and the manual which comes with the box is stating we have service centres in these these cities. I read one review for a device from XOLO(LAVA), which says that the service center don't have any spares/support/assistance from XOLO, hence refusing to reward the warranty. So, what will happen next if my city's service centre doesn't have spares to repair my Gionee handset??? We can't go blindly and buy a handset because they've a service center in our city!? We need to consider these things also, right isn't?

Tell me your review when you get to handle the device. Thank you! :)

Definitely most of these service centers would ask for 1 month time in case there is any hardware related issue because they send the product to the main service center which I think are only 1-2 in the country.. You can call these as pickup centers instead :)

Ive got my hands on a friend's P2 last week. installed CWM, took a backup, Rooted it, deleted a lot of useless apps like antivirus, poker, Du battery saver etc. The handset is really powerful and the best you can get under 6k. Completely blows Galaxy S Duos 2 except the camera. The camera is horrible as its fixed focus and you need a good pair of headphones to do justice to the phones sound quality. Temple run 2 at high graphics, Dead trigger 2 with medium settings ran without a hitch.

P.S - Played a 720p DTS BDRip in MX player and ran flawlessly in H/W+ Decode.1080p Lagged but you cant expect everything et this price range. Karbonn A12+ is also good but there has been plenty of complaints about its erratic touch keys and dismal battery backup.

Great to read a positive feedback, Sushovan. BTW, what is CWM?

CWM is a recovery for android devices useful for taking backups of the firmware , installation of new firmwares, kernels, etc.

My take on the P2 -
Hardware wise its a decent phone. Played subway surfer and it was very smooth.
But the ui Gionee has opted for is bad. The texts are huge and transition effects (animations) make the UI little slow (specially while you are navigating through settings) and unfortunately you can't change any of these. The popup notifications looks ugly too. I wish they had opted for stock Android instead then it would have been much better.
Camera on the P2 is below average. It lacks details and the pics comes out grainy even in decent lightening. Even my 3mp on LG P500 beats that easily. But not to forget its a below 6000rs. phone and at that price point 2mp is what LG & Samsung have to offer.

Speaker is good in terms of clarity.
720p HD videos played very smoothly in MXPlayer though forwarding(by sliding finger) was a bit laggy.

Overall its a decent phone but I'm unaware of other options available in this price range.
If you can live without Android then Lumia 520 @7500 is a good deal too (someone told me that it was selling for 7000rs. on Flipkart few days back). Also Xolo Q700 is a good option for little extra.

My mother bought Micromax Canvas Fun A63, 2 days ago on my recommendation.
The phone is lag free so far. It played 1080p videos in HW mode in MX player  , though it lagged while seeking. Battery life is good enough, would easily last for a day on average usage (better battery life than Galaxy Y). Camera is bad(worse than Galaxy Y). The front camera can be used for network video calling too(ofcourse you can use it with Skype n all)

Display specs are good but still it doesn't look good (maybe because my eyes are adjusted to my N4's screen & S2's screen). Overall I would say that its a great phone @ 6k but my friend's XOLO A500S with IPS display had better camera, so that would be a better choice, but its approx 1k more
