try this :

First Rightclick on the icon whose text u want 2 remove & select Rename.
Now instead of entering any characters in the text box, hold down
the ALT key and type 255, using the NUMPAD keys only.

Release the keys, and u will find the titles blank!
press Enter to accept this.

in case u find the box still present around the icon titles area :

Go to Control Panel>System>Advanced and click the Settings button
under Performance. Tick Use drop shadows for icon labels on the
desktop' under the Visual Effects tab and click OK.

Start with the My Computer icon. you will have to do it individually
for each icon.

Hopefully, You will find your icons smartly standing all-alone
on your desktop ! :D

i mean to say all the related topics should go in one

such as winxp tweaks in one and win 98 tweaks in another

I think this should be posted in the 'Software Reviews' section under the 'Share your tweaks here' thread
