WD Elements External Hard Drive not working

I have a friend's WD Elements External Hard Drive of, I think it's 500 GB. It is not responding when I connect it by USB 3.0 connection. Upon inserting it, the file explorer hangs and nothing is responding after that.
I have tried fully formatting the drive but it didn't change anything.

Try
-Crystal disk, if everything ok
-Try hdd low level format tool, if does not work then let us know.

Upon inserting the drive, crystal disk doesn't even open but when I remove the drive, it opened and showed the following info about the drive:

the diskk is deadd

read error means probably the disk crashed and the ic is damaged or due to some physical damage, the plates are damaged.

if in warranty, get it replaced else it is gone now.

ok... the product is under warranty... how does the service model of WD works? Is there a service center to go to?

i think customer needs to start rma from wd service website and then they will pick it up from the doorstep.
