Which Mobile Phone???

Hi,
I want to buy a new handset for me. By analyzing my requirements, I concluded to Sony W300i model. But some of my friends told me that Sony's joystick starts giving problems in 1-2 years. So don't buy a Sony handset that has Joystick. Is it true? Does W300i comes with joystick? Have any of you experienced such problem? I am confused. Can anybody please suggest me any good model depending on my requirements-

u can get a w550i easily in 9k.. Try to get a k750i and u mite get it if u r lucky.. In nokia go 4 5300 or in abt 10.2k get a 6233

I too bought W300i recently.

It does not have a joystick. So no problems.
W550i is another good option. But it does not have a memory slot and no EDGE. W600 has EDGE.

I chose W300 only because of EDGE.

If you can add 1k to ur budget, you must go for k750.

Go for 'Samsung SGH-E250',for 7.4K it has almost all features you require...jus google it!!

Thanks to all. How is the network reception of Sony phones as compare to Nokia phones?
Is there any way to check it?

the network & sound quality is similar between nokia & Sony ericsson now, you won't notice any difference

@blueshift..... Is w300i has EDGE class 10? Is battery backup good enough?

^^ Yes, W300i has EDGE Class 10. And W300i has an amazing battery life. Infact it can play music continuously for 27 hours without charging (in flight mode)!

What krazyfrog said is absolutely right!

But mind you thats its a flip phone. So you need to handle with more care. Atleast I do take extra care of my mob. ;-)

u need to handle flip fones wit extra care... like keepin it in ur pocket carefully n all.... flaps r delicate.... they can break...

saw a advt regarding LG Dyanmite 300 / 200.. hows itguys.? it alos comes withn 8000..LG 200 has 2 MP camera !!!

tats very economical wen compared with nokia phnes..
my phnes Nokia only, I like tem as they are user frdly, but their handsets with 2 MP camera are very very coslty!!

It doesn't have EDGE. Also its GPRS is Class 8..means still low speed.

^^ @torrent08. EDGE means Enhanced Data rates for GSM Evolution. It is theoretically 4 times faster than regular GPRS (note theoretically means in theories only and rarely in reality).

so, i need a Mob with 1 to 2 MP & also havi edge , other features too.. Does Nokia models falls within 10k for tat specificatns.?
I am looki for a GPRS coonec for my soontoget laptop as i dnt want to depend on datacards which are very costly & also i think their netspeeds are more or less same when compared with a GPRs connec..Am i Wrong..?? :-(

in 10k u can get a k750i/6630 for good gprs speeds....

Nokia 6233 comes with Class10EDGE and has 2MP camera.
It has stereo speakers, its screen is bigger than k750i.
Price is somewhere near 11400/-

^^ 6233 for 10.8k when i last checked. I think @torrent08 you should go for 6233. It has all that you need. And more.

6233 Only lacks Auto Focus and Flash compare to K750i

if cam is not your priority over music go with 6233

Thanks to all for your information. All the opinions on this thread helped me to make a decision and just 1 week before, I finally bought W300i. Also, I came to know for the first time that flip-type mobiles need extra care. I was not knowing this...

6233 camera sucks ..

6233 camera doesnt suck... just that its VGA in video rec. and no autofocus and a lil less reso than k750i..

I have received a ringtone from my friend's mobile (Nokia) to my w300i phone. But I am not able to play it. Can anybody please tell me how can I listen to it and how to set it as a ringtone?

When I contacted to Sony Call Center, they told me that there is no such facility in W300i. Is is true? Is there any other method like converting to mp3, etc.?

Currently, it is is "pmr" format.

ok .. it does not suck .. but its not in the same league as k750i .. no flash , autofocus as well as macro mode . but what it has is vga quality video recording at 15fps ..

It's in PMR format only. I have checked it again. The value of Distribution is "Limited". is it the reason I am not able to play it? But I receiced it from Nokia phone successfully.
