Nikia 6630 has Triband Frequency. GSM 900/1800/1900 Mhz. USA uses GSM 850 also. So it may work in some areas and may not work in some. A Quadband phone is necessary to be able to use all over world.

Depends on your service provider. For e.g. see this: *www.gsmworld.com/cgi-bin/ni_map.pl?cc=us&net=be If you are in the east coast then an AT&T connection will probably work for you. So first get to know the region and then ther service provider.

The whole list is here: *www.gsmworld.com/roaming/gsminfo/cou_us.shtml

Both cdma and gsm are quite prevalent in the US. List of US Mobile companies: *en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_mobile_phone_companies

@GeekyBoy
Check the second link in my previous post. It has a list of operators and the operational frequencies.
