CNET editors' review
Very good
7.0
out of 10

The good: The Nokia N95 cell phone boasts a 5-megapixel camera that produces good-quality photos and videos. It comes with advanced multimedia capabilities and has a 3.5mm headphone jack. The Symbian smart phone also features integrated GPS, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth, and an innovative two-way slider design.

The bad: The N95 lacks support for U.S. 3G networks; standby battery life is poor; and performance is somewhat sluggish. The hardware feels a bit cheap, and the sliding mechanism could be more secure. It's also very expensive.

The bottom line: With a 5-megapixel camera, advanced multimedia capabilities, and GPS, there's no doubt that the Nokia N95 is one of the most feature-packed smart phones to date, but poor battery life and sluggish performance makes it hard to justify the high price tag.

Still SE phones have the sonic advantage :)

Symbian Phones are notoriously known for their slow processing power right from Nokia 6600

Also if you add the maximum supported MMC to that,
you know what ?
:D

Thats why I bought K750i :)

Symbian fones are not at all slow if u know how to use them...and u know wat... u cant multitask in ur k750i... and if u can run max 2 applns at a time... no fone can be slow...
btw i ll surely ditch my e50 for a n95 if some1 of u gifts it to me... :D :D

Ditch? I'd thrown my phone out of the window if i could've afforded N95. But since i don't, i'll keep it inside the window. Atleast till i'm able to afford it:D

N92 doesn't at all compare to N95. Its mainly designed for Mobile Televiewing with included DVB-H which isn't yet available in India. So its useless. Also its also very large and bulky and doesn't have half the features of N95. Camera is also very basic. Dunno how you think its superior to N95.

When I got my 6630 in 2005, I thought my next fone wud b N70, then I saw N93 and craving for N70 went out of the window, then I saw the N95 and thought better to wait for N95, no N93 either, then some days back Nokia came up with E90 Communicator and heck I want it now.

Al the time I have wanted new fones but I still have only 6630;-)

But for $1370, I would rather buy a Mobile phone + Laptop.

I don't think I would even give up an aging Nokia 6610 for that ugly monster of a phone. It looks only slightly better than one of those satellite phones that these police officers have. LOL!

Now, if you want to talk about the iPhone - that's something you gotta have. It is beg, borrow or steal for me. :p

iphone will be available only on cingular. I would suggest you to get N95 for now, use if for couple of months till the talk comes out that iphone is stable, then ditch N95 for iphone.

That is subjective and would differ from person to person. For me, a better interface with great features is much better than a truckload of every feature imginable packed into a barely usable interface. And I don't need to point it our to anyone that no one can beat Apple at user interface design. :)
Of course, you might be the sort who would prefer a five megapixel camera over a Multi-touch screen. As I said, it differs.

shantanu_webmaster said:

Yes, of course it is. It will synchronise all your media such as the AudioBooks, Movies, Music, Music Videos, Podcasts and TV Shows and also your data such as the Bookmarks, Calendars, Contacts, Email accounts, Notes and Photos through iTunes.
That is a ridiculous question, by the way. :)

shantanu_webmaster said:

Well, to be frank (and please do not be offended just because I am being frank), it would be pretty stupid to get an N95 if you are also treating yourself to a MacBook Pro. If you have a Mac, you simply need an iPhone. Perfect integration. Both your computer and your phone will work in perfect harmony with each other.
Get yourself a 5 MP digital camera separately and you have an N95 with a much better user interface and that would take much better photos. :p

I wouldn't even if it was free. Its a crap phone. Unless you are like this explorer dude in Africa who can't live without the GPS...or something...I dunno...the point is, this phone is a complete waste of moeny. Its HUGE! It has fsckall battery life and furthermore, the N93i has a BETTER camera!

Yeah, I know what you are going to say...OMG N95 has a 5 MP camera! You are teh n00b!! Well, for your information Mr. Would-Be-Flamer, the Mega-Pixelage has nothing to do with photo quality, only photo SIZE...the N93i has same hardware as the N95, but with OPTICAL Zoom!! If you care at all about photo quality, then this should be a big deal for you!!

So yeah...if I wanted to blow a $1000, I'd sell my N80, buy an N93i and use the rest of the cash to buy my comp some more memory..

User interface is the novelty of 4 days only. After that an All in one solution like N95 will be better. Remembar, you cannot extend the capability of iPhone without paying apple for application. But you can install so many free apps in N95.

The specs itself look superb, & it is a phone, not an iPod replacement.

The 5 mpix camera is not just a big feature to look good on the spec sheet. It also the best camera on any phone yet. Many sites currently are comparing the shot quality of N95 with proper digital cameras, and the differences are negligible. It even blows away the current camera phone king, K800i. N93 has just optical zoom in its favour, otherwise in still as well as video recording, N95 beats N93 hands down. And thats just the camera. Along with that it has GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v2.0 with A2DP, UPnP, 3.5 mm slot with video out, 2.6" QVGA TFT with 16.7 million colours, two-way slider and many more. And it costs 35k, just a fraction more than N93i. That makes it excellent value for money. 35k for a high quality digicam and video recorder, GPS navigator, media player, device with every connectivity feature imaginable, a huge and ever increasing list of software/games available crammed in a compact unique two way sliding body is worth it.
Also i'd like to tell all iPhone fans here is that they can praise it all they want. But don't dare compare it with N95 and say things like its big and ugly and has unusable interface. We all know who'll win if both are compared spec to spec. But since they're different devices with different target customers, i won't compare them. And no body else should either.
Also if you just like flaming something without any proper reason whatsoever, stay away from this thread, or in fact this forum altogether. If you can't see something good with your eyes and accept it, then you have a lot of growing up to do before you can talk again.

Yaar, teri itni jalti kyon hai whenever someone critisizes apple :D

Krazyfrog is right, N95 is a small computer in disguise. iPhone is a multimedia phone with high money to Apple. With N95 you get the cost worth it but not with iPhone (just 8GB HD, gr8)
