Windows as a service?

With Microsoft & other big companies going to the subscription based cloud service, can it be real that Windows operating system is provided as a subscription based service too in the future? Office has been a very critical product in the Microsoft's world. They transferred it to the subscription based service , which kind of makes sense in the times of Google Docs. Can this be mapped to the operating system too? This cloud based service also avoids piracy like streaming does in video/audio files.

if you are referring to Office 365 & Adobe CC release then both's pirated copies are available on net.

why would they switch to this cloud model?

to stop piracy and give more flexibility for users to work remotely. your software perferances gets saved on cloud so you will have all your fav. tools presets and other shits as you like.
