Looks like now we can no longer download the youtube videos in any format we want. Can any one confirm on this ?

Earlier I used to download videos from online tools/extensions in HD format.

I was using IDM which gives a button to download videos in available formats in youtube. But now it no longer shows 1080p or other formats to download. So, checked the online download websites for youtube its not working now.

Have you updated the IDM app to the latest version?
Sometimes you need to update the apps like IDM or Media Human to allow them to download videos or use that feature on the YT site.

If I correctly understand downloading YT videos is permitted if you have premium account or if you are the uploader. So YT is constantly making changes to its setup and third-party apps eventually fail to download the video. Their developers then release a next version that works for a while I guess.

IDM does that as in the above posts. There is also yt-dlp for CLI and VideoDownloadHelper extension for browsers.

Most of the Youtube (and other streaming) downloaders rely on certain APIs or scraping to get the video streams. Since Youtube keeps changing it's API/website structure so do these downloaders to make use of the new changes. I think the same thing is happening with IDM.

Yes, IDM always make changes according to Youtube changes.

Nowadays Adblock can't block ads on YouTube... Irritated to watch video in Youtube. So using IDM.
Any alternative block ads?

I have had no problems using Ublock Origin with Youtube. In fact I even use Ublock Origin to remove Youtube website elements I don't like.

There is a thread with my Ublock filters for Youtube. Will share it here if I find it.

Downloading Youtube videos is not easy. YT keeps making it harder to download videos actually.
At present IDM can download videos from sources like Amazon/Facebook etc but the floating button on YT is somehow not available at present!
You can try Media Human YT downloader app. *www.mediahuman.com/youtube-video-downloader/32/
Check if any trial version is available therein.

Also it's possible that within a few days IDM developers will fix this.

I never felt downloading youtube videos hard, but I don't download youtube videos often, when I do I google for it and always find sites that download videos. If this is enough, you can try this method.

That's not convenient for me...download whenever I see the channel immediately.

Later I will watch...otherwise the channel will not be shown.

At present even with latest IDM build 51, Youtube is refusing to allow IDM to download videos.
Let's see when IDM comes up with next patch!

Media Human YT downloader is as of now working fine!

Build 52 has fixed this issue now. This goes on. Youtube blocks it and IDM cracks it, it seems!!
